Loukas Georgiou

Loukas Georgiou is a figurative artist mainly working in drawing and painting. His work is an ongoing effort to explore various themes such as identity, self-representation and self-reflection while connecting them with different emotions and thoughts. Georgiou considers his work to be more personal as he chooses to use images of his family and friends as a source.

Georgiou’s practice is predominantly influenced by the Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and more contemporary, such as Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Jenny Saville, and Andrew Salgado. Georgiou’s artistic research is informed by studying their techniques, use of colour, and painting composition, which is translated and then represented in the final image.
