Fine Art Bridge Scheme

The Fine Art Bridge Scheme (FABS) is designed to support early career artists to nurture new talent in Sheffield. Building on the success of the S1 Artspace Bursary Programme (2010-2017), FABS is a mentoring and residency scheme specifically aimed at supporting recent graduates from the Fine Art Courses at Sheffield Institute of Art (BA and MA), allowing them to work closely with arts organisations to build their experience and confidence within the visual arts community in Sheffield.

This opportunity provides a bridge to support graduates transition from the relative security of the undergraduate or postgraduate Fine Art courses into a professional arts environment at an early stage in their professional development. By working directly with more established artists who act as mentors and with the arts organisations involved, graduates will be able to build strong relationships and develop networks across the city that could support future collaborations and create further opportunities, raising the profile of each recipient, and improving your future employability and prospects.

The FABS residencies run for 12 months and are hosted across a number of the city’s arts organisations including S1 Artspace, Site Gallery, Bloc Projects and Museums Sheffield.

FABS forms part of Making Ways, a new programme supported by Sheffield Culture Consortium through Arts Council England to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.
