S1 Artspace is delighted at the announcement of £1m to support its plans to create a new arts venue for Sheffield

22 MARCH 2016

Announced in the Chancellor’s Spring Budget Statement this week, we are thrilled to have received financial support from the government to help transform a wing of the Park Hill estate into a new venue for the arts.*

This marks an important milestone in S1 Artspace’s history and builds on our twenty-year reputation for identifying and supporting artistic talent. Our plan is to expand and relocate to the brutalist Grade II* Park Hill estate, to create a new home and venue for the arts.

“We are delighted at this opportunity for S1 Artspace, Park Hill and Sheffield. It has been a huge team effort to get to this point and I would like to extend our sincere thanks to everybody who has helped so far. This is the first major step towards realising our plans and we very much look forward to the journey ahead.” Louise Hutchinson, Artistic Director, S1 Artspace

“This is an exciting project for Sheffield that will provide a fantastic new home for the arts at Park Hill. I am delighted to be championing it.” Lord Bob Kerslake, Project Champion

S1 Artspace would like to extend its thanks to the following individuals and organisations for supporting its capital plans to date; Lord Bob Kerslake, Arts Council England, Sheffield City Council, Tom Bloxham MBE and his team at Urban Splash, South Yorkshire Community Foundation, Thornbridge Brewery, Architectural Heritage Fund and the Prince’s Regeneration Trust.

Further details about our capital plans will be announced over the coming months.
