Mystery venue in Sheffield

Burgundy Leisure is a fictitious light entertainments company based in Backford, a provincial town in Norfolk. London-based artist Susannah Hewlett invented the enterprise whilst living in Norwich, developing a cast of minor characters to appear in a series of photographs, films, events and performances. Company manager Stanley Handson and his troop of cabaret acts, striptease artistes, puppeteers and look-alikes have sponsored ‘celebrity’ weddings, awarded prizes and played bad records at parties and openings across Norfolk. Last year Stan was arrested on the steps of the Bloomsbury Theatre for embezzling. Now Stan's back and ready to revive the fading Burgundy legend for one last time with an ambitious new venture in Sheffield.

Burgundy Leisure is inviting members of the public to attend a prestigious award ceremony for the leisure industry at a mystery venue in Sheffield. The company’s top acts are preparing to go head-to-head with some of the industry’s biggest names for ten handcrafted gold* ‘thumbs up’ trophies. Nominees include Tommy Tucker for Best Children’s Entertainer, Golda Yarmouth for Best Cabaret act and Columbia Charms for Best Erotic Film Actress.

Lesley Eager, Burgundy Leisure representative said “it’s very exciting we’re planning a Babycham reception and finger food  - courtesy of Nick Nack Quick Snakz… Stan’s invited celebrity friends from all over the UK and the Costa del Sol”

The awards will be followed by an after-party from Burgundy Leisure DJ’s.

A selection of Burgundy Leisure merchandise will be for sale at the event.
